Questions

Basement Finishing FAQ

Do I need a permit to finish my basement?

In Utah County cities, finishing a basement generally involves a building permit plus electrical, plumbing and mechanical work that is inspected. We pull the permits and schedule inspections for you.

What makes a basement bedroom legal?

A bedroom needs a code-compliant emergency escape opening (egress window), plus other requirements your city enforces. We design for it from the start.

When do I get a schedule for my basement?

You get a written schedule before demo.

What if I want to change something mid-project?

You can. Every change is written up with its price and schedule impact, and nothing happens until you approve it in writing. No surprise invoices.

Can we live at home during the project?

Usually yes for basements and single-room remodels. Your project lead plans dust control, access, and work hours with you.

Who will be my contact during the remodel?

You have one dedicated project lead from start to finish. Calls, updates and decisions go through that person.

Will an owner check the work on my project?

An owner walks your project at key milestones to check quality.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Every trade partner on your project is licensed and insured, with documentation on file.

“I shopped around quite a bit to finish my basement. Landed with Majesty, worked with Dallin and super grateful I did. Will be using them in the future for my kitchen.”
